Judy Coady's involvement with art extends over thirty years. With degrees in art history, she wears various aesthetic caps as a collector, lecturer, writer, curator and now as owner and director of Coady Contemporary. Judy opened her gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe because the street is a magnet for art collectors, both national and international. Some visitors debate where Sanat Fe is the second or third largest art market in the world. Regardless, Canyon Road is listed overall as one of the top ten streets in America. The mission of Coady Contemporary is to represent unique contemporary art. Some artists make art in traditional craft media employing such materials as wood, glass, clay, metal and fiber. Others have mastered stainless steel, bronze, stone, granite and mixed media. The gallery also represents painters, some traditional or even folk art, but most cutting edge abstract. The large courtyard fronting on Canyon Road allows Judy to display amazing fountains, large-scale sculptural wind chimes and contemporary abstract sculpture in materials such as granite, stainless steel, ceramics, welded steel and glass incased in aluminium. Santa Fe's tour buses always stop at 205 Canyon Road to take in the scene at Coady Contemporary. |
